What is oak veneer?
Veneer is a thin sheet of real wood applied to the surface of the door. Because it is wood, each sheet has slightly different grain. On the Roma Series, the oak veneer has a clear lacquered finish so the colour and grain stay visible.
The Roma Series also has solid construction and weighs around 39 kg. Its five designs differ in groove pattern: Monti in a brick pattern, Trevi and Regola with horizontal grooves, Ponte with diagonal grooves, and Parione with wider horizontal panels.
What is PVC sheet laminate?
On the Madrid Series, the door surface is covered with a wood-pattern PVC sheet. Construction is semi-solid, so the door weighs around 21 kg, roughly half the Roma Series.
Madrid comes in two grain patterns. Seville uses crown grain, the arched figure from the centre of a log. Toledo uses a calmer, more graphic straight grain.
When to choose Roma, when to choose Madrid
Choose the Roma Series if
- You want a real wood surface with visible grain.
- You like a door that feels heavy and solid as it opens and closes.
- Your interior uses panels or grooves as a design element.
Choose the Madrid Series if
- You want a clean, plain look with more colour choice.
- You need a lighter door.
- You want to match the door to floors or furniture, from mid brown to light grey.
Can I mix them in one house?
Yes. Because the size and frame are the same, you can use Roma in the main rooms and Madrid in bedrooms or service areas with no difference in height or width. For surface care advice, ask the CONTI team about the series you choose.
